Labuan Bajo — West Manggarai’s regional women-and-child protection unit urged police to complete investigations into sexual-violence cases in the regency, according to a report published on November 5, 2026. The unit said 14 cases had been recorded by the end of October.

Why it matters: The figures indicate 14 recorded sexual-violence cases in West Manggarai by late October, while one case was in court, two were with prosecutors and the rest remained with police.

Rosalia Dika, head of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for Women and Children Protection, told Floresa that 13 of the cases involved children and one involved an adult woman. She said none had yet produced a final court judgment.

One case was being heard at the Labuan Bajo District Court. It involves an alleged assault on a 12-year-old girl from Komodo District; police said in an April report that the case was reported on March 4, 2026.

Two other cases involving alleged rape of children had been transferred to the West Manggarai District Prosecutor’s Office, Dika said. The remaining cases were still being handled by police, according to the report.

Dika called for cases handled and reported by the unit to be brought to completion so victims could receive legal certainty. Floresa reported that the West Manggarai police criminal-investigation chief did not respond to requests for an update on November 3.

The police public-relations division previously said the Labuan Bajo case was being investigated and that the alleged suspect was also a minor. A later report said the victim’s lawyer had urged prosecutors and investigators to clarify the status of the case after about five months without a final resolution.
