Labuan Bajo — The Komodo District administration urged village administrations to revitalise 59 Posyandu locations in Labuan Bajo on October 6, 2026. The network is supported by 295 Posyandu cadres.

The district administration asked villages to provide suitable service locations and equip Posyandu facilities with basic needs, including tables, chairs and health equipment. Village administrations were also encouraged to allocate budgets for Posyandu needs, support for cadres and service facilities.

Why is the Posyandu network important for Labuan Bajo residents?

Posyandu facilities in Komodo District help bring basic services closer to the community through maternal and child health monitoring, monitoring the growth and development of toddlers, nutrition support and health education. This role depends on the availability of facilities, equipment and cadre support.

Posyandu Wae Medu in Wae Kelambu Subdistrict was the site of a visit on October 6, 2026. Posyandu facilities are now being encouraged to expand services through six areas of Minimum Service Standards: health, education, social affairs, public works, public housing, and public order, security and community protection.

This expansion of functions means that Posyandu facilities do not only handle maternal and child health services. The Posyandu Portal of the Directorate General of Village Administration also explains the framework for these six areas of basic services.

The Komodo District administration said revitalisation requires support for facilities and infrastructure so services can operate more optimally.
