Labuan Bajo — The Lembunai Cup II student futsal tournament opened at GOR Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, on Wednesday afternoon, 28 October 2026. Organisers said the competition aims to develop students’ talents and redirect young people’s attention away from gadget dependence.

The tournament was initiated by Yovita Dewi Suriany, a member of the West Manggarai Regional House of Representatives from the NasDem Party. The opening was attended by West Manggarai PSSI Association Chair Marianus Yono Jehanu and West Manggarai NasDem Party Regional Leadership Council Chair Yopi Widiyanti, according to a report by POS-KUPANG.COM.

Dewi said the interschool format was chosen so that local students, rather than hired players from outside the area, would take part. She said sporting activities give students time to move, exercise and compete without gadgets.

Committee chair Wawan Arianto said the Lembunai Cup II has 29 teams: 16 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams. Participants come from junior and senior secondary schools in Labuan Bajo and outside the city, including six senior-secondary teams and 11 junior-secondary or equivalent teams, including MTsN 1 Nanga Lili Lembor.
