Who we are
Komodo Times has been publishing since 2026; it is published by PT. Kabar Delapan Belas, a press company incorporated under Indonesian law as required by Law Number 40 of 1999 on the Press. Publisher's address (legal entity): Jalan Ir. Juanda No. 76, Kelurahan Simpang Tiga Sipin, Kota Jambi, Jambi. That is the company's registered address and does not indicate where our reporting takes place. The Responsible Editor is Mursyid Sonsang, who holds final authority over everything we publish and carries legal responsibility for it under press law. The newsroom team is listed on our Masthead page.
Under Article 12 of the Press Law, the name, address, and responsible person of a press company must be published openly. This page and the masthead serve that purpose.
What we do
- We report the events, policies, and decisions that measurably affect readers in the areas we cover.
- We explain how things actually work rather than relaying statements. Figures and technical terms are translated into everyday language.
- We link to sources. Readers are entitled to check for themselves where a claim comes from.
- We keep news separate from opinion. Columns are clearly labelled and remain the responsibility of their authors.
How we work
A story is not published until its content has been cross-checked against at least two independent sources: names, titles, figures, dates, places, and quotes must be found in the source. A story resting on a single interested party is not published. The sources used are linked in the "Sources" block of each article. Our full working rules are in Editorial Standards & Fact Verification, and we are bound by the Journalistic Code of Ethics and the Cyber Media Guidelines.
Our daily news copy is drafted with the assistance of artificial intelligence from linked open sources, published once it passes two-source verification, and then edited by the newsroom after publication. The byline names the newsroom reporter who holds that section's desk and is accountable for the story. How this works, and its limits, are set out openly in our Artificial Intelligence Policy.
Errors and your rights
We can get things wrong. When we do, the correction is made openly and stays attached to the same story, with no trace erased. How to report an error, exercise the right of correction, and file a right of reply is explained in our Corrections, Right of Reply & Right of Correction Policy. This service is free of charge.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the newsroom. Advertisers, sources, and the subjects of our reporting have no authority to order a story published or withheld, and no right to read copy before publication.
