Komodo National Park fees: what entry covers and what costs extra
The official park tariff separates admission from extra regulated activities, while BPS hotel statistics measure a different part of tourism in Manggarai Barat.

Komodo National Park’s official visitor tariff is clear, but it should not be confused with hotel or regency tourism figures. For foreign visitors, entry and listed activities cost Rp250,000 per person per visit under the tariff that took effect on 30 October 2024; separate charges apply to activities such as sport fishing and drone documentation.
What does the standard park fee cover?
The foreign-visitor charge is Rp250,000 per person per visit, according to the Directorate General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation, 2024. The tariff includes admission and listed nature-tourism activities: trekking, wildlife observation and snorkelling.
The revised framework was introduced under Government Regulation No. 36 of 2024 and took effect on 30 October 2024, according to the park authority, 2024. Reservations made under the previous tariff remained valid until 29 October 2024.
Which activities cost extra?
The standard charge does not cover every regulated activity. The park authority’s 2024 tariff lists sport fishing at Rp5,000,000 per person per activity and drone use for documentation at Rp2,000,000 per unit per day.
These are official public charges, not prices set by tour companies. The tariff therefore answers the access-cost question, but not the total cost of travelling from Labuan Bajo or arranging private services.
How should visitor numbers be read?
Komodo National Park recorded 334,206 domestic and foreign visitor arrivals in 2024, according to the park authority as cited in a 2025 government document. That count refers to park visits, not hotel guests or the number of people staying in Labuan Bajo.
BPS recorded 300,437 hotel guests in Manggarai Barat in 2023 in its 2025 publication, with 62.08% domestic and 37.92% foreign guests. The BPS figure covers hotel guests across the regency and should not be treated as a park-entry total.
What does this mean for island visits?
Padar, Pink Beach, Kanawa and other destinations within or around the park should be assessed through the applicable park rules and official tariff rather than through hotel statistics. The sources establish the public fee framework and distinguish park admissions from wider tourism activity, but they do not create a single combined price for every island excursion.
