Larantuka — The road to Kuhe, a permanent-housing site for Lewotobi Laki-laki survivors in East Flores, was nearly complete on 5 November 2026, according to Viktor Nale of the NTT National Road Implementation Agency.
The contractor had finished asphalt work along the more-than-10-kilometre road to Kuhe, Ekora NTT reported. Remaining work consisted of about 500 metres of road shoulder, which workers were tidying before the project could be handed over.
Nale said the road works had effectively been completed before November. Transport of construction materials was disrupted for more than a month by eruptions and the Flores earthquake on 15 August 2026, delaying the project.
The project also included a review of 10 locations for possible street lighting. Two locations already had lights, while eight others were still being assessed.
Why the Kuhe road matters
The road improves access to the planned permanent-housing site and has also helped farmers move produce from the area near Kopdit San Dominggo to Kuhe, Ekora NTT reported.
East Flores Regency has designated Kuhe as one of three permanent-housing locations for Lewotobi survivors. The other locations are Todan and Walang.
The road project was carried out by PT Dewi Graha Indah. After the remaining shoulder work is finished, the contractor is expected to complete a Provisional Hand Over, or formal transfer of the project to its owner.
The update was given by Nale in Larantuka on Thursday, 5 November 2026. The report did not state a completion date for the housing construction or the road handover.
