Wae Codi — Residents returned to the Manggarai District Prosecutor’s Office on 6 November 2026 to press for action on a village-fund misuse report filed on 12 February, according to Floresa. The report concerns alleged irregularities involving Wae Codi Village, Cibal Barat Subdistrict, Manggarai Regency.
Savio Saputra, a 27-year-old resident of Raci Hamlet, made the latest visit, which Floresa described as his fourth. He submitted a further report concerning alleged misuse during the 2026 budget year and asked prosecutors to pursue the earlier case.
The disputed Rp110.430.388 (about US$10) was originally earmarked to buy paving blocks for the yard at Raci Village, Raci Hamlet, the report said. The money was later transferred in full to post-earthquake disaster response after the Flores earthquake on 15 August 2026.
Floresa reported that the disaster-response allocation reached Rp120.430.388 (about US$11) after the original disaster budget was added. Saputra said Rp96.810.000 (about US$6,300) was used to buy 10 kilograms of rice for each of 553 affected households. He said the unaccounted balance reached Rp23.620.388 (about US$1,500).
Why the Manggarai case matters to readers
The allegation concerns funds intended for local infrastructure and emergency assistance, making the case relevant to readers following public spending and disaster-response accountability in Flores. The report also links the complaint to alleged irregularities involving road projects, stunting programmes, food security, village-owned enterprises and housing assistance.
Floresa said the complaint involved two village heads during the 2021–2025 period: Yohanes Nout, who served as acting village head from 2019 to 2021, and Bonefasius Sel, who took office at the end of 2021. Sel acknowledged to Floresa in an interview on 7 February that he had made mistakes managing village funds in 2024–2025 and said stalled village projects would be continued.
The report said Manggarai Inspectorate officials conducted a field examination in Wae Codi on 17 June. Saputra said he was told that the Inspectorate’s audit had been referred to prosecutors.
Floresa reported no final prosecutorial finding or announced resolution in the material returned by the search.
