Labuan Bajo — Six Italian tourists reported Kristoforus Aman to police on 12 August 2026 after paying for a six-day sea-tour package in Komodo National Park, according to Floresa.co. Police arrested Aman, also known as Itok Aman, on 19 October 2026 in Manggarai Timur after the case prompted complaints about tourist protection in Labuan Bajo.

Floresa.co reported that the tourists arrived in Labuan Bajo three days before making their report and could no longer contact Aman. The report said the package was sold through Labuan Bajo Top, a travel agency owned by Aman.

While police were searching for Aman, three Chinese tourists reported him in early October over a separate two-day, one-night liveaboard package booked through Tour & Travel Digital, which the report said was also associated with him. The three tourists were identified as Liu Guoyu, Zhou Yuzhu and Li Jiaxin.

Police arrested Aman after he left a toilet at a relative’s house in Ketang, Kota Komba Utara, Manggarai Timur, Floresa.co reported. AKP Lufthi Darmawan, head of the Manggarai Barat Police Criminal Investigation Unit, said Aman had been detained for questioning.

Why the case matters to Labuan Bajo visitors

The case shows how payment disputes involving overseas visitors can become a wider tourist-protection issue when a booked service is not delivered and the operator becomes unreachable, Floresa.co reported. The article examines the police process and the implications for safeguards in Labuan Bajo rather than treating the complaints as an isolated booking dispute.

Detik reported separately that police designated Aman a suspect in connection with complaints from three Italian tourists, and said three Chinese tourists reported losses. Those figures concern the cases described by Detik and differ from Floresa.co’s account of the six Italian tourists’ payment.

Floresa.co reported that Aman had been detained and was undergoing examination. The report did not state a court outcome or a final compensation arrangement.
