Labuan Bajo — PLN said electricity service across Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, was fully restored after the magnitude-7.7 Flores Sea earthquake on 15 August 2026.

PT PLN (Persero), Indonesia’s state electricity company, said the restoration covered all electricity networks affected by the earthquake. The company’s disaster-response standby period ran from 15 August to 28 September 2026.

PLN also said it distributed humanitarian assistance to residents affected in nine regencies on Flores. The recipients were Manggarai Barat, Manggarai, Manggarai Timur, Ngada, Nagekeo, Ende, Sikka, Flores Timur and Lembata.

The assistance included basic supplies, medicines, mother-and-child items, cleaning equipment and evacuation materials. PLN also supplied free electricity tokens to support the operation of evacuation posts.

Why the Flores recovery matters to Labuan Bajo

Labuan Bajo is in Manggarai Barat, one of the nine regencies named by PLN in its assistance programme. The utility said the local handover was carried out through its Labuan Bajo Customer Service Unit, alongside other operational units serving Flores.

PLN’s reported restoration follows the earthquake that struck the Flores Sea on 15 August 2026. Separate reporting said all previously affected customers had regained electricity by 17.40 WITA (UTC+8) on 18 August 2026, while PLN personnel remained on standby to monitor the network and respond to possible further disruptions.

The electricity recovery and assistance programme address two separate needs after the earthquake: restoring power infrastructure and supporting affected communities. PLN’s account places both actions within its wider response across Flores.
