Komodo’s 2025 visitor total shows strong demand, but monthly volatility and the distinction between park visits and hotel occupancy matter for tourism operators, workers and investors.

Tourism demand in Labuan Bajo and Komodo National Park is substantial but uneven across the year, creating opportunities for accommodation, transport and visitor services while exposing businesses to seasonal swings. Official park data recorded 432,217 visits in 2025, while BPS reported 73.53% star-hotel room occupancy in Manggarai Barat in July 2025.

How many people visited Komodo National Park?

Komodo National Park recorded 432,217 visits during 2025, according to figures reported by detikTravel from park authorities, 2026. The total comprised 340,048 foreign visitors and 92,169 domestic visitors, so the park’s recorded demand was predominantly international.

The 2025 total was higher than the 334,206 visits recorded in 2024, according to the same report. These are park visits, not a count of unique people staying in Labuan Bajo or spending across every tourism business.

When is demand strongest?

Monthly traffic varied sharply in 2025. July recorded the highest number of park visits at 63,133, while January recorded the lowest at 12,609, according to the park figures reported by detikTravel, 2026.

That pattern matters for operators because annual visitor totals do not describe monthly cash flow, staffing needs or demand for boats, rooms and guides. A business serving park visitors must distinguish peak-month volume from quieter-period demand.

What does hotel occupancy show about Labuan Bajo?

Manggarai Barat, the regency that includes Labuan Bajo, recorded 73.53% room occupancy in star-rated hotels in July 2025, according to BPS data cited by Komodo Times, 2026. The figure measures reported occupancy in registered star-rated accommodation for that month.

BPS’s Manggarai Barat hotel publication for 2024, released on 9 May 2025, provides the regency’s formal accommodation-statistics reference, according to Statistics Indonesia, 2025. Hotel occupancy should therefore be read as an accommodation indicator rather than a complete measure of all tourism activity, including informal lodging or visitors who do not stay overnight.

What does this mean for tourism businesses?

The available figures point to a market with strong international demand, a pronounced high season and significant variation between park visitation and hotel occupancy. They support planning around capacity and seasonal employment, but they do not by themselves establish profitability or justify a specific investment.

  • Park visits: 432,217 in 2025.
  • Foreign park visitors: 340,048 in 2025.
  • Highest monthly park visits: 63,133 in July 2025.
  • Star-hotel occupancy in Manggarai Barat: 73.53% in July 2025.
