Borong — Manggarai Timur has moved its Flores earthquake response into a recovery-transition phase under Regent Decree HK/72/Year 2026.

The transition followed the end of the district’s emergency-response period after three extensions. The latest extension covered 20 to 26 September 2026, bringing the emergency-response period to an end on 26 September.

The earthquake occurred on 15 August 2026 and had a magnitude of 7.7. The quake was centred north of Nagekeo Regency, while Manggarai Timur’s response has now shifted from emergency measures towards recovery.

Why the transition matters to Flores readers

The change means that recovery activities are now the focus of the district’s official response. Damage to homes and public infrastructure remains part of the response as Manggarai Timur moves through the transition.

Recovery planning includes basic needs such as clean water, sanitation and hygiene, clothing, food, health services and temporary shelter. These needs remain part of the work during the recovery transition following the end of the emergency-response period.

The recovery phase also covers damaged infrastructure, social and economic activity, government services, education and health services across 12 subdistricts. Those areas are included in the recovery planning for the district after the Flores earthquake.

The decree is identified as Regent Decree HK/72/Year 2026 on establishing the emergency-transition status for recovery activities following the Flores earthquake in Manggarai Timur in 2026. It sets the basis for the shift from emergency response to recovery-transition activities in the district.
