Labuan Bajo — The Komodo district government urged village administrations to revitalise community health posts on 6 October 2026 in Labuan Bajo, where officials highlighted the posts’ expanded role in delivering basic services.

Why it matters: Residents can expect Posyandu in Komodo District to serve broader basic-service functions, while Wae Medu provides health monitoring for 154 young children and 12 pregnant women.

The district has 59 Posyandu locations supported by 295 cadres, according to Pos Kupang. The call was made during a visit to Posyandu Wae Medu in Wae Kelambu, Labuan Bajo.

Mindryati Astiningsih, chairwoman of the East Nusa Tenggara Family Welfare Movement and the province’s Posyandu advisory team, said Posyandu services now cover six minimum-service areas: health, education, social affairs, public works, public housing, and public order and community protection.

At Wae Medu, the health service covers 154 babies and children aged up to five years and 12 pregnant women. Six children aged 12 to 59 months were identified as experiencing stunting, with supplementary food provided as part of nutritional support.

The post’s routine services include registration, measuring and weighing, record-keeping, health care and immunisation, counselling for parents, and supplementary food such as mung-bean porridge.

Komodo district officials said Posyandu cadres play a strategic role in monitoring mothers and children, tracking young children’s growth, supporting nutrition and providing health education. The national Posyandu portal says the expanded six-area model is based on Home Affairs Ministry Regulation No. 13 of 2024.
