Pelindo Maumere Sends Second Rp25 Million CSR Grant to St Maria Perumnas Church

Maumere — Pelindo’s Maumere branch has delivered Rp25 million in corporate social responsibility funding to support construction of the St Maria Perumnas station church in Maumere, Sikka regency, East Nusa Tenggara, according to regional broadcaster RRI.

RRI reported that the assistance was handed to the church construction committee on Friday, 18 September 2026. The ceremony took place at the construction site, where Pelindo Maumere general manager Angga Adi Prebawa presented the funds to committee chair Petrus Nong Meak, witnessed by station leader Fransiskus Xaverius Made Botha and members of the congregation.

The company described the Rp25 million payment as the second phase of its support for the project. In the first phase, Pelindo contributed Rp8 million to help build a place of worship for residents living near the Laurentius Say Maumere port area, RRI reported.

Construction progress and funding

According to RRI, physical work on the St Maria Perumnas station church had reached around 70 percent when the latest contribution was delivered. Meak said the new funding would allow the committee to keep construction moving while it continues to face substantial remaining costs.

The committee has set a target to complete the building in 2027 and is aiming to have it finished before Easter that year, Botha told RRI. At the time of RRI’s report, no more detailed completion date was given.

RRI noted that the congregation is also helping finance the project. Each family at St Maria Perumnas has agreed to contribute Rp1 million annually, and self-raised funds had reached about Rp1 billion by the third collection round, according to Botha.

Botha said congregation members have been involved from the start because they want a suitable, representative place of worship in their neighbourhood. The construction committee is continuing to seek additional support from other donors to close the funding gap.

Pelindo’s CSR role

In its report, RRI described the church support as part of Pelindo Maumere’s Tanggung Jawab Sosial dan Lingkungan (TJSL) programme, the Indonesian term for corporate social and environmental responsibility. Nationally, Pelindo states that its CSR and TJSL activities are implemented through funding programmes and assistance for social, economic, environmental and governance initiatives, in line with state-owned enterprise regulations.

The Maumere branch’s assistance to St Maria Perumnas reflects this local application of Pelindo’s CSR policy, with the company framing its contributions as support for community welfare around the Laurentius Say port.
