Manggarat Barat officials cite one sexual-violence trial in Labuan Bajo

Labuan Bajo — Manggarai Barat officials said on 2 November that one sexual-violence case was being tried at Labuan Bajo District Court, involving defendant VK and a 12-year-old primary-school student from Komodo district. The case was reported by the victim’s father on 4 March 2026.

The report said the case was the only one then before the district court among sexual-violence cases discussed by the officials. It did not state a verdict or provide a trial date.

Why it matters

The case concerns residents of Komodo district and is being handled in Labuan Bajo, the district’s judicial centre. The identities of the child and other protected parties were not disclosed; the defendant was identified only by the initials VK.

A separate Manggarai Barat police report published on 30 April described a suspected sexual assault case involving a 12-year-old girl identified by the initials AL and a 14-year-old suspect identified as VK. Police said the complaint was filed on 4 March 2026 and that the case was still under investigation at that time. That police report did not establish that the matter was already being tried.

Manggarai Barat officials said the cases under discussion had not yet received legally final court decisions. No next procedural step was specified for the Labuan Bajo trial.
