Flores — BMKG’s meteorological-drought warning applies to parts of Nusa Tenggara Timur during Dasarian I November 2026, covering 1–10 November, with some areas classified Awas, the highest alert level. The warning comes from BMKG, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, in its Dasarian III October 2026 climate update.
The same BMKG update says some parts of Nusa Tenggara Timur have a high probability of receiving less than 50mm of rain during November 2026. It also identifies low rainfall of 0–50mm per dasarian in parts of Nusa Tenggara and lists Nusa Tenggara Timur among provinces where the Awas drought classification applies during 1–10 November 2026.
For Flores, the warning describes a regional climate risk rather than a blanket closure or travel ban. A separate BMKG weekly forecast for 30 October–5 November 2026 says Flores, along with Timor and Sumba, may see light to moderate rain while generally remaining partly cloudy to cloudy.
Local reporting from TribunFlores also says Nusa Tenggara Timur entered a transition from the dry season to the rainy season in early November. Its report says Flores could receive light to moderate rain during 3–5 November 2026, while another report forecasts similar rain on Flores during 7–9 November 2026 and warns of possible hydrometeorological hazards during the seasonal transition.
Why it matters for Flores travellers
The official data point to contrasting conditions: parts of Nusa Tenggara Timur remain under the highest drought alert even as forecasts allow for intermittent rain on Flores. Travellers should therefore treat local conditions as variable across the island and monitor official weather information for the specific destination and travel day.
BMKG’s drought warning covers 1–10 November 2026. Its weekly forecast covers 30 October–5 November 2026, and the local Flores forecast extends to 7–9 November 2026. The reports do not state that tourism facilities, transport services or destinations in Flores will close.
