Mataram — The NTB Humanitarian Solidarity Team received an award in Mataram on 10 October 2026 for assisting communities affected by the Flores earthquake in Manggarai and Manggarai Timur.
The award was presented by East Nusa Tenggara Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena to the West Nusa Tenggara Government’s humanitarian team at the NTB governor’s office. The team included 261 members, according to VIVA NTT and POS-KUPANG.COM.
The recognition covered the team’s humanitarian mission from 16–31 August 2026. Reports said the volunteers assisted residents affected by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake in Manggarai and Manggarai Timur.
East Nusa Tenggara officials credited NTB with responding in less than 24 hours after the disaster. The mission included health services, a public kitchen and direct assistance for affected communities.
Why it matters to Flores readers
The award records the scale and timing of support sent to Flores from a neighbouring province. It also identifies Manggarai and Manggarai Timur as areas where the NTB team worked during the earthquake response.
Reports said the recognition ceremony was attended by NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, NTB Deputy Governor Indah Dhamayanti Putri and NTB Regional Secretary Abul Chair. The ceremony was held in Mataram on Saturday, 10 October 2026.
The mission took place earlier, from 16–31 August 2026, and the award followed the team’s return from Flores. The reports do not state any further operational steps after the ceremony.
