Bajawa — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecast thick cloud cover across Flores and parts of East Nusa Tenggara on Sunday, 11 October 2026. The forecast also identified a risk of light fog before dawn in Bajawa and Ruteng.
BMKG Meteorology Station El Tari Kupang issued the forecast for 22 regencies and cities in East Nusa Tenggara. Temperatures were expected to range from 14 to 34 degrees Celsius, with Maumere and Oelamasi among the hottest locations named in the report.
The forecast described thick cloud as the dominant condition from Kupang and Timor to Flores and parts of Sumba. Fog was expected in elevated areas before dawn, including Bajawa and Ruteng.
Why it matters to Komodo readers
The forecast covers Flores, the island containing several travel and transport routes used by visitors heading to destinations in the Komodo region. Thick cloud and early fog can affect visibility during morning travel in the highlands, while the forecast's temperature range signals substantially cooler conditions in elevated areas than in the hottest locations.
A separate report published on 10 October also identified Bajawa and Ruteng among areas where fog could occur, while placing the lower highland temperature range at 14 to 27 degrees Celsius. It said the fog could reduce visibility for people travelling in the morning or at night.
BMKG's provincial forecast was for Sunday, 11 October 2026. The reports did not state a further update or other next step.
