Meko Islands: a white sandbar and small islets off Adonara

Local media and travel writers mention snorkelling, diving and underwater photography among the activities visitors can enjoy, but they do not provide detailed information about rental equipment, lifeguard services or formally managed tourism facilities on the sandbar itself.

Getting there from Larantuka

FloresPos places Larantuka, the capital of East Flores Regency, as a common starting point for trips to Meko. From Larantuka, travellers cross by motorboat to Adonara Island, with the crossing described as taking up to about 30 minutes.

The FloresPos report lists several landing points on Adonara: Tanah Merah Boat Mooring Bridge, Tobilota Port, Wailebe Boat Mooring Bridge and Waiwerang Port. From one of these, it estimates roughly 1.5 hours overland to reach Meko Hamlet in Pledo Village.

Regional tourism features also note that Meko lies in or near Desa Pledo or Desa Meko in Witihama District on Adonara, reinforcing the description of the area as a relatively remote coastal hamlet served by small boats and local roads.
