Labuan Bajo — PT Pakuan Tbk, through its Vasanta Group subsidiary, is preparing a soft opening for the Mawatu mixed-use development in Labuan Bajo on 16 October 2026, according to Bisnis.com and Investor Daily reports published on 30 September.
Why it matters: The planned opening would give visitors and residents access to more than 50 retail and food-and-beverage tenants, plus a new cinema, from 16 October 2026.
The development is preparing more than 50 retail and food-and-beverage tenants for the opening. Investor Daily reported that public and supporting facilities were in the final stages of preparation.
Planned tenants span restaurants, cafés, fashion, local products, wellness and everyday services. Cinema XXI is also scheduled to begin operations at Mawatu on 16 October, according to the reports.
First operating phase
The soft opening will mark the first operating phase of the development. Further tenant and facility additions are planned as Mawatu develops its combined commercial, hospitality, food, entertainment and community spaces.
The developer is also preparing a hotel to be managed by an international hospitality group, although the reports do not identify the operator or opening date.
The 16 October opening is expected to begin Mawatu’s operation as a new lifestyle and hospitality area in Labuan Bajo.
