Flores — BMKG has placed several districts in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) under the Siaga classification for meteorological drought during the first ten days of October 2026.
BMKG’s forecast for October 2026 places rainfall across most of NTT in the below-50-millimetre category for the month. Its ten-day outlook for the first three October periods puts rainfall generally in the low-to-medium range of 0–150 millimetres per ten-day period.
The warning does not mean that every part of NTT will receive no rain. Rain may still occur in some areas, while its distribution and intensity may vary between districts.
Why the alert matters for Flores and NTT
Low rainfall can affect water availability and agricultural planning across Flores and other parts of NTT. A provincial government report said most of NTT had recorded low rainfall of 0–50 millimetres during the third ten-day period of September 2026, with similarly low conditions expected in early October.
A regional news report identified Kota Kupang, Lembata, Ngada, Ende, Sumba Timur, Sikka, Alor, Kabupaten Kupang and Belu among areas associated with the dry conditions.
BMKG’s drought classification applies to several districts in NTT rather than automatically to the entire province. The agency’s monthly outlook nevertheless identifies most of NTT as having a high likelihood of rainfall below 50 millimetres in October 2026.
