West Manggarai Opens Three-Day Review of Quake Damage Data

Labuan Bajo — The West Manggarai administration has opened a three-day public objection period to verify its published list of households whose homes were damaged by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake centred near Mbay, Flores, inviting residents to challenge any discrepancies in the official data.

The district government formally issued the publication through Regent Circular No. BPBD.360/675/IX/2026 on the verification and validation results for houses affected by the earthquake, according to the public broadcaster RRI and the West Manggarai government’s information portal.

The circular includes names and addresses of affected residents along with classifications of housing damage, and specifies a three-day window for objections starting Thursday, 10 September 2026 at 08:00 WITA and closing Saturday, 12 September 2026 at 23:59 WITA.

Residents are instructed to submit objections through the district’s disaster-response website at poskobencana.manggaraibarat.go.id, as stated in the circular and reported by RRI.

How residents can review the records

To ensure the data is widely accessible, the administration has directed subdistrict heads, village and urban-village officials, community health centres, schools and other government bodies to print and display the circular and the attached list of names in public locations.

According to Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs Yoseph Stefianus Hironimus, these locations include government offices, houses of worship, traditional houses and other public facilities, allowing residents to compare the published information with conditions on the ground before the data is finalised.

The circular also instructs subdistrict and village or urban-village governments to actively facilitate objections and complaints from residents who face difficulties accessing communications or information, so that those without reliable internet or devices can still participate in the review process through local government offices.

Why the challenge period matters

During a meeting on validation and synchronisation of damage data at the regent’s office in Labuan Bajo on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, district prosecutor Yoanes Kardinto welcomed the rapid response by the administration and said the three-day objection window offers sufficient space for residents to submit complaints while allowing verification teams to audit those objections promptly.

According to Kardinto, the limited timeframe is intended to prevent delays in issuing formal decrees on assistance and in channeling support to residents whose homes were damaged.

The government’s information portal notes that the verification process has already identified more than 13,600 houses affected in West Manggarai, with detailed categorisation of damage levels that will inform subsequent aid decisions.

Officials say the objection mechanism and public display of data are designed to strengthen the accuracy and accountability of the damage records, ensuring that households whose homes were damaged by the quake are properly captured in the final lists before funding requests and assistance programmes are rolled out.
