Nangahale — PT Krisrama reported Nangahale resident Ricky Fernandes to Sikka police on 30 October 2026 over a comment in a WhatsApp group. PT Krisrama is a company owned by the Maumere Diocese.
Fernandes, identified as RF, is a Catholic and has publicly opposed the company’s control of land in Nangahale. The complaint was filed by PT Krisrama’s legal team.
The case is part of a long-running land dispute involving PT Krisrama and Indigenous communities in Nangahale. The dispute is linked to a transfer of land control during the Dutch colonial period.
Earlier proceedings involved Antonius Toni, Leonardus Leo and Ignasius Nasi. The three Indigenous leaders were accused of entering disputed land without permission in an incident on 9 August 2014.
Why it matters to readers
The dispute is in Sikka, on Flores, and shows how a land conflict can lead to successive criminal complaints involving local residents. The latest complaint comes alongside earlier cases involving residents and the company.
The wider conflict involves evictions, criminal proceedings and disputes over land claimed by PT Krisrama and Indigenous communities. The company’s land claim concerns Hak Guna Usaha, or cultivation rights, while residents describe the area as ancestral land.
PT Krisrama had previously reported Toni, Leo and Nasi to the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police in 2025, more than a decade after the alleged 2014 incident. The latest report did not state a court date or other next procedural step for Fernandes’s case.
