Kupang — On Wednesday, 14 October 2026, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Secretary Fransiskus Sales Sodo called for real-time probity audits and internal-government oversight of earthquake-disaster funds for affected communities in Flores and Sumba.
Ekorantt reported that Sodo made the request at the 2026 NTT Regional Oversight Coordination Meeting in Kupang. He said the oversight should cover funds from unexpected expenditure, central-government assistance and donor grants.
Sodo said the government must prevent any misuse of disaster-response budgets. He assigned the Aparat Pengawasan Internal Pemerintah (APIP), Indonesia’s internal government supervisory apparatus, to provide oversight and assistance from the emergency-response stage through aid distribution and physical rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The call concerns the controls attached to disaster funds in two islands that are part of eastern Indonesia’s travel and transport region. It also sets out the stages at which APIP is expected to remain involved, rather than limiting checks to a post-spending review.
Earlier NTT government reporting said the province had directed emergency assistance and recovery funding towards damaged public facilities, education facilities and residents’ houses in Flores. The provincial government said humanitarian receipts, disbursements and grants to local governments would be managed transparently under APIP supervision.
That report said the balance included contributions from East Kalimantan, Maluku and the public, although it did not state that those funds were the subject of the 14 October oversight request.
The reports do not state a new deadline or enforcement measure following the meeting. The stated next step is continued APIP oversight and assistance across emergency response, aid distribution, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
