Manggarai Barat — Residents challenged official classifications of earthquake-damaged homes in Manggarai Barat, with the revised figures recorded after the objection period on 14 October 2026.
Floresa reported that the final data listed 448 heavily damaged homes, 1,589 moderately damaged homes and 4,580 lightly damaged homes. A further 7,561 homes were recorded as outside the classification.
The classifications determine the basis for government assistance for repairs and reconstruction. The figures followed verification and validation of objections submitted by residents after an earlier assessment.
Why it matters to readers
The figures affect thousands of households in Manggarai Barat and provide the basis for deciding which homes qualify for different levels of assistance. The classification is therefore directly linked to residents’ access to repair support after the Flores earthquake.
Floresa said the earlier verification recorded 375 heavily damaged homes, 1,400 moderately damaged homes, 3,892 lightly damaged homes and 8,007 homes outside the classification. The post-objection figures changed in each category.
RRI reported that Manggarai Barat officials had formally adopted verified and validated damage data through a joint decision after reviewing residents’ objections. RRI also reported that the adopted data would guide rehabilitation and reconstruction assistance.
