Labuan Bajo — Manggarai Barat recorded Rp237,3 billion (about US$14.4 million) in locally generated revenue on 21 October 2026, equal to 73,17 percent of a target of around Rp315 billion, according to POS-KUPANG.COM. Deputy Regent Yulianus Weng said the district still had room to increase collections.
Weng identified land and building tax (PBB) as a revenue source requiring closer attention. He said PBB receipts remained below Rp3 billion, while some taxpayers had not met their obligations.
The deputy regent said the local government needed to improve tax compliance and update its records of taxable properties. The report also identified hotel and restaurant taxes as important contributors to Manggarai Barat’s revenue.
Why it matters to Komodo readers
Manggarai Barat is the administrative area that includes Labuan Bajo, the main gateway for travel to Komodo National Park. Stronger local revenue collection could affect the district’s capacity to fund public services and manage tourism-related infrastructure, although the report does not state any immediate change for visitors.
The revenue figure is higher than the Rp229,4 billion reported by RRI for 13 October 2026, but the two reports describe different reporting dates.
The report does not state a deadline for the proposed tax-record updates or identify a specific next administrative step.
