BNI Keeps Most Flores Branches Open After Earthquake Damage in Borong
BNI said 24 of 25 branches and 65 of 67 ATMs in its Ende and Maumere coverage area were still operating after the Flores earthquake, while Borong remained closed for repairs.

Labuan Bajo — Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) said 24 of its 25 branches in the Ende and Maumere areas were operating after the August earthquake in Flores, while the Borong branch remained closed because of cracks in its building, according to a company statement republished by MarketScreener and another local outlet.
BNI said 65 of 67 ATMs in the area were still working, with the two units at the Borong branch taken offline temporarily. The bank said it had deployed an O-Branch mobile service for Borong customers and directed them to other BNI branches, electronic banking and digital channels.
Temporary closure in Borong
In a separate BNI announcement on Aug. 18, the bank said the Borong KCP in East Manggarai regency had been closed since that date after earthquake damage was found in the building. BNI listed the nearest alternatives as the O-Branch at the Borong outlet or BNI KCP Ruteng.
The bank said operations at Borong would resume once the building was declared safe and ready for use. BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the safety of employees and customers was the priority, according to the statement republished by local media.
Relief supplies sent to affected areas
BNI also said it was distributing aid through its BNI Berbagi programme to communities affected by the quake. The supplies included drinking water, rice, instant noodles, eggs, cooking oil, milk, biscuits, baby diapers and kitchen equipment.
The bank said the assistance was being sent in stages to Ende, Borong, Labuan Bajo, Maumere and Ruteng, in coordination with local governments, the regional disaster management agency and other stakeholders. BNI said the effort was part of a broader state-owned enterprise response coordinated by Danantara Indonesia.
Separately, official disaster updates and international reporting described a powerful Flores quake on Aug. 15, 2026, that triggered widespread damage across East Nusa Tenggara and disrupted transport, tourism and relief logistics.
Authorities later reported multiple casualties and extensive damage across several regencies, including Ende, East Manggarai, Manggarai, Ngada, Nagekeo and Sikka. BNI’s branch-and-ATM update, however, was limited to the bank’s own network in the Ende, Maumere and Borong areas.
