Flores — BMKG’s 13–19 October 2026 outlook keeps much of Indonesia in dry conditions and places Nusa Tenggara Timur on the strong-wind warning list for 13–15 October 2026. The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency says rainfall for October is generally forecast in the low-to-medium range of 0–150 mm per ten-day period.
BMKG’s climate monitoring for the third ten-day period of September 2026 found that most of Indonesia remained relatively dry. The agency also said active atmospheric conditions could still produce moderate to heavy rain, locally accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
For 13–15 October 2026, BMKG listed Nusa Tenggara Timur among the areas where strong winds could occur. The province remained on the strong-wind list for 16–19 October 2026 as well.
Why it matters for Flores travel
The outlook is relevant to travel planning across Flores because strong winds can affect road conditions, airport operations and marine journeys. The forecast does not state that any Flores airport, road or port is closed.
BMKG’s wider outlook says weather during 13–19 October 2026 is generally expected to range from partly cloudy to light rain, while selected areas may receive moderate to heavy rain. The agency’s warning concerns potential conditions and does not establish that every location in Flores will experience strong winds or heavy rain.
BMKG also identifies a continuing risk of localised severe weather despite the broader dry pattern. Its forecast says rain of moderate to heavy intensity may occur with lightning and strong winds in some areas.
Travel conditions should therefore be read against both parts of the forecast: dry conditions remain widespread, but short-term atmospheric changes may still produce disruptive weather in parts of Nusa Tenggara Timur during the outlook period.
