Jakarta — Indonesia updated its 2026/2027 Christmas and New Year transport incentives on 29 October 2026, setting discounts of up to 30 percent on ticket fares and up to 100 percent on certain port service charges, according to The Jakarta Post.
The programme covers domestic scheduled flights, trains, passenger ships and ferry crossings. The government also provides a value-added tax waiver for eligible domestic economy-class flights during the holiday period.
The air-ticket waiver applies to tickets purchased from 20 October 2026 to 10 January 2027 for travel from 22 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. It covers the base fare and fuel surcharge but excludes additional services such as excess baggage and seat selection.
Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said the wider package is intended to reduce travel costs and support transport, tourism and economic activity during the year-end peak period.
Why it matters for Labuan Bajo travellers
The measures could affect the cost of reaching Flores during the Christmas and New Year travel period because domestic flights and sea transport are included in the national programme. However, the reported fare rules do not establish a specific Labuan Bajo route, operator or ticket price.
The Jakarta Post reported that the package includes a 30 percent discount on tickets, a 30 percent reduction for ships and special pricing for port services provided by ASDP, the state-owned passenger ferry operator. Another report said ferry port service tariffs could be fully exempted under the programme.
The reported purchase and travel windows differ by transport mode. Air tickets covered by the VAT measure may be bought through 10 January 2027, while eligible flights run from 22 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. The Jakarta Post did not state a separate Labuan Bajo implementation timetable.
