Kupang — The East Nusa Tenggara provincial government submitted a request on 30 September 2026 to increase subsidised fuel allocations by 5 percent for the remainder of 2026. The request covers subsidised diesel, kerosene and Pertalite and was sent to the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas).

The request was based on fuel-distribution data from Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jatimbalinus through August 2026. Subsidised diesel distribution had reached 69,10 percent of a regional quota of 135.915 kilolitres (KL). Kerosene distribution stood at 66,36 percent of a quota of 114.739 KL. Pertalite distribution reached 64,46 percent of a quota of 348.578 KL.

NTT economic and development administration official Selvi Nange said the proposal was intended to anticipate public fuel needs through the end of 2026. The report also links fuel demand to post-earthquake recovery in Flores, including community needs and recovery operations.

Fuel allocation decisions in NTT affect the availability of transport and essential services across Flores and nearby travel corridors. BPH Migas previously said fuel support for the earthquake response covered residents and the operation of heavy equipment, generators, ambulances and public-service vehicles.

The Reo fuel terminal in Manggarai resumed operations after being affected by the earthquake and serves as a distribution hub for Manggarai, West Manggarai and East Manggarai. During emergency conditions, supplies were supported through an alternative emergency distribution scheme involving the Ende terminal and primary supplies from Maumere and Labuan Bajo.

The provincial proposal follows earlier emergency measures in seven earthquake-affected districts. Those measures relaxed subsidised-fuel purchase restrictions to support evacuation, aid distribution, health services and other response activities. BPH Migas has not approved the requested 5 percent increase.
