Labuan BajoManggarai Timur has extended its earthquake emergency response until Sept. 19, 2026, after a second renewal approved by Regent Agas Andreas, according to Detik.com and BeritaSatu’s reporting on the district’s decision. The extension covers emergency relief, displaced residents and damage repair.

The renewal was formalized in a regent’s decree issued on Sept. 13, the reports said. The previous emergency period had ended on Sept. 12, and district officials said aftershocks and remaining damage to homes and public facilities made continued emergency handling necessary.

According to Detik.com, the district’s protocol and communications head, Yeni Maria Viani Wajong, said the administration was still in emergency response mode when the extension was announced. BeritaSatu separately reported that the district had more than 24,000 displaced residents and extensive infrastructure damage when the status was prolonged.

Casualties and displacement

Detik.com reported that the district disaster post recorded 50 deaths, 239 serious injuries and 404 minor injuries. It also said 24,124 people remained displaced as of Sept. 13.

The reporting from both outlets said the emergency response remained focused on basic needs, protection and handling of displaced residents, and rapid work on damaged infrastructure. Neither report said the extension changed the operating status of businesses, tourism sites or transport services.

Wider Flores response

Detik.com also said other parts of Flores had begun moving out of emergency status, while Manggarai Timur stayed under extended response measures. In Manggarai Barat, police and residents dismantled a badly damaged house after that district’s emergency period ended, the report said.

The earthquake response across Flores followed the August 2026 quake sequence that struck several districts on the island. The two independent reports confirm the Manggarai Timur extension itself, but they do not provide a separate official publication of the decree text in the material reviewed.

Reported figures as of Sept. 13, 2026:

  • Emergency extension: Sept. 13-19, 2026
  • Deaths: 50
  • Serious injuries: 239
  • Minor injuries: 404
  • Displaced residents: 24,124
