Manggarai Barat Police Send Third Aid Shipment to Pulau Longos

Labuan Bajo — Manggarai Barat police said their water-police unit sent a third round of emergency logistics to earthquake-affected residents of Pulau Longos, in Pontianak village, Boleng district, on Sept. 15, 2026, according to a report by RRI and a separate local report that said the supplies later arrived on the island.

The handover was carried out at Manggarai Barat Police headquarters in Kampung Ujung, Labuan Bajo, where Water and Air Police chief Insp. Leonardo Marpaung symbolically gave the aid to Pontianak village head Sarifudin before the shipment was taken by sea to Pulau Longos, according to RRI and local outlet OkeBajo.

RRI said the delivery was the third stage of emergency logistics for residents affected by the Flores earthquake and was meant to help ensure basic goods reached remote island communities despite limited transport access.

The package included 15 boxes of instant noodles, 40 boxes of Indomilk, 50 boxes of bottled water, five boxes of biscuits, baby formula, diapers, 50 sets of wearable clothing, 50 sarongs, 50 towels, 10 folding mattresses, blankets and two large tarpaulins measuring 12 by 15 metres, according to RRI.

OkeBajo reported that the aid was transported by a community boat and arrived in Pulau Longos after crossing the water. RRI’s report also said the sea route was used because of transport limitations affecting island access after the quake.

The reports did not give a household count for the recipients, but they identified the operation as part of ongoing disaster-response logistics for Pulau Longos. The village is part of Manggarai Barat regency on the western tip of Flores, a region where island and coastal transport can be vulnerable after natural disasters.

Both reports framed the shipment as part of a broader effort to keep essential goods moving to isolated communities while normal supply chains were under strain.
