Labuan Bajo Immigration Logs 27 International Cruise Calls in 2025

Labuan Bajo — The immigration office in Labuan Bajo recorded 27 international cruise ships calling at the West Manggarai port area from January through September 2025, carrying a total of 23,424 tourists, according to the Class II Immigration Office TPI Labuan Bajo as reported by national media.

Immigration officials said the calls involved cruise ships serving international routes to Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat, East Nusa Tenggara.

The figures were disclosed by the head of the Labuan Bajo immigration office, Charles Christian Mathaus, through the office’s head of immigration information technology and communications, Christian Prantigo, in late October 2025, according to an English-language report by Tempo and a separate article by Detik and Labuan Bajo-based media.

In addition to the international cruise calls, immigration also recorded domestic-route yacht and cruise activity over the same nine-month period.

The office reported 33 yachts and cruise ships operating on domestic routes between January and September 2025, carrying 692 passengers.

Traffic recorded through Labuan Bajo’s seaport

Immigration data cited in national and local coverage shows that the January–September 2025 figures apply to vessels using Labuan Bajo’s seaport and waters, rather than to arrivals via Komodo Airport.

The reported totals for the nine-month period are:

• International cruise ships recorded: 27
• Tourists carried by those international vessels: 23,424
• Domestic-route yachts and cruise ships: 33
• Domestic-route passengers: 692

The immigration office has not publicly broken down how many individual ships were involved in the 27 recorded calls, nor whether the 23,424 figure covers passengers only or includes crew.

However, separate mid-year immigration data cited by Labuan Bajo-based outlets and an English-language expatriate news site show that cruise and yacht visits to the Komodo National Park area had already exceeded full-year 2024 totals by June 2025, with 45 foreign cruises and yachts and 23,622 passengers and crew recorded in the first half of the year.

Later reporting on non-tax state revenue (PNBP) linked to visas on arrival indicated that arrivals of foreign nationals at the Labuan Bajo seaport continued to rise through November 2025, with tens of thousands of cruise passengers recorded at the maritime immigration checkpoint.

October figures and immigration checks

For October 2025, immigration officials reported additional domestic-route yacht and cruise traffic at Labuan Bajo, with five domestic vessels carrying 1,869 passengers during that month, according to Tempo’s English edition.

These October figures were reported separately and are not included in the January–September totals for international cruise ships and tourists.

Immigration officials said foreign nationals arriving on cruise vessels in Labuan Bajo undergo standard Customs, Immigration and Quarantine procedures.

Checks include passports, visas, travel documents and passenger or crew manifests, with inspections conducted aboard cruise ships in coordination with other relevant agencies.

According to the Labuan Bajo immigration office, no immigration violations were found during the January–October 2025 period covered in the reports.

The office has urged cruise passengers and operators to ensure that passports and visas remain valid, that permits are used in accordance with regulations, and that they comply with inspection procedures when calling at Labuan Bajo.
