Komodo Airport Handled 48,798 Arrivals in May 2025

Labuan Bajo — Komodo Airport handled 48,798 arriving passengers in May 2025, comprising 45,261 domestic arrivals and 3,537 international arrivals, according to an arrivals and occupancy report published by the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (BPOLBF).

BPOLBF used the 48,798 total as a proxy for visitors to Labuan Bajo, classifying 39,746 of those arrivals as tourists and 9,052 as non-tourists.

The authority’s breakdown identifies 18,021 international tourists and 21,725 domestic tourists in the proxy, alongside the 9,052 passengers categorised as non-tourists.

The figures describe demand at the airport and are used by BPOLBF as an indicator of visitor flows, but they do not establish that every arriving passenger was a leisure traveller or that each person stayed in Labuan Bajo.

Visitor proxy separates tourists and non-tourists

According to the BPOLBF report, the visitor proxy explicitly differentiates tourists from non-tourists, meaning the proxy is not equivalent to a pure count of holidaymakers.

On BPOLBF’s classification, non-tourists account for about 18.6% of the May arrival total, while passengers identified as tourists account for roughly 81.4%.

The report does not detail the criteria for assigning passengers to tourist or non-tourist categories.

It also does not specify how many of the arriving passengers were residents, workers or business travellers, or how many continued to other destinations.

The report states that the arrival figures were processed by BPOLBF using Komodo Airport data.

April 2025 accommodation survey

Alongside the May airport data, the same BPOLBF document presents accommodation findings for April 2025.

According to the survey, resorts recorded the highest April occupancy rate at 64.7%, followed by four-star hotels at 59.6% and five-star hotels at 47.4%.

Average occupancy across the sample increased by 44.68% from March to April.

By category, BPOLBF reports that occupancy rose 32.81% for resorts, 49.14% for four-star hotels and 55.25% for five-star hotels between March and April.

The April accommodation sample recorded an average length of stay of 2.15 nights.

The report separately cites an average length of stay of 2.33 nights for March.

For the April sample, BPOLBF notes that visitors from China represented 28.6% of recorded origins.

Indonesia, the United Kingdom and the United States each accounted for 14.3% of the recorded origins, while Australia, Europe, the Philippines and Canada each represented 7.1%.
