Maumere — — Kodim 1603/Sikka planted mangroves along the coast of Reroroja village, Magepanda district, Sikka regency, on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, as part of preparations for the Indonesian military’s 81st anniversary, according to local reports and a public broadcaster’s regional coverage.

The activity was led by Kodim 1603/Sikka Deputy Commander Major Cba Dominggus Melianus Atamani. Participants included Kodim personnel, Lanal Maumere, the Basarnas search-and-rescue office, the Persit KCK military spouses’ group and residents of Reroroja, according to the reports.

The reports said the planting was intended as an environmental effort to help preserve the coastal ecosystem in Reroroja. They did not specify how many seedlings were planted or identify the mangrove species used.
