Maumere — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) forecast temperatures of up to 35°C in Maumere and other parts of East Nusa Tenggara on Friday, 16 October 2026.
BMKG said partly cloudy conditions would dominate the province, while dry air and strong winds could increase wildfire risks. The agency advised people to limit outdoor activity during the afternoon and drink more water to help prevent dehydration.
Wind speeds were forecast to reach 37 km/h in Kupang, Oelamasi and Ba'a, according to reports citing the BMKG El Tari Meteorological Station in Kupang. The forecast identified Kupang and Maumere as the areas with the highest temperatures, at 35°C.
Why it matters to Komodo travellers
The forecast covers conditions across East Nusa Tenggara, the province that includes major travel routes and destinations in the region. Heat, dry air and strong winds may affect daytime travel and outdoor activities, while the reported wildfire risk is relevant to visitors moving through exposed areas.
A separate Flores report said Maumere was expected to be partly cloudy on 16 October. It also said generally dry conditions did not rule out local rain, and that hot and dry weather was expected to remain widespread in parts of Indonesia during 16–22 October.
