Kupang — Bank Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara representative office, the provincial Industry and Trade Agency and Akademi Mudah Ekspor held a two-day export bootcamp for 50 curated micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) on 14–15 September 2026 in Kupang, according to RRI and ReformaNews.
The Bootcamp UMKM Ekspor 2026 carried the theme “Berdaya Saing, Siap Mendunia” (“Competitive and Ready for the World”) and was designed to strengthen business capacity, product competitiveness and readiness to reach international markets, the two outlets reported.
RRI and ReformaNews state that the training took place at the Nembrala Room of Bank Indonesia’s NTT representative office, and that the 50 participants were selected through a curation process from 98 applicants.
Skills aimed at buyer readiness
According to RRI and ReformaNews, training by Fernanda Reza Muhammad and Zahra Margautami from Akademi Mudah Ekspor focused on practical preparation for meeting prospective buyers, including market mapping, pricing strategies, commercial offers, payment and risk management, business communication and negotiation.
The reports say participants also worked on business profiles, product catalogues, digital marketing and export pitching to help them define target markets and prepare clearer offers and follow-up plans ahead of future business meetings.
Both outlets quote Bank Indonesia UMKM analyst Reyza Lisembina B. as saying that export capability requires more than a single training session, and involves consistent production, compliance with standards, awareness of international market dynamics and the ability to negotiate with buyers.
Industry and Trade Agency head Zet Sony Libing is cited as stressing that NTT products need reliable quality and production capacity, along with a deeper understanding of requirements in destination markets.
Link to upcoming business matching
RRI and ReformaNews report that the bootcamp was organised as part of preparations for an export-focused business-matching session that will be held during the Flobamorata Creative Expo 2026 in October in Kupang.
The reports do not specify which foreign markets are being targeted in the planned business matching, nor do they name individual buyers.
The coverage also does not mention any signed buyer agreements, purchase orders or completed export transactions resulting directly from the September bootcamp. At this stage, the outcome presented in the reports is improved readiness and capacity-building ahead of the business-matching event rather than confirmed deals.
Trade backdrop and product focus
ReformaNews, citing data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), reports that East Nusa Tenggara’s exports reached US$32.03 million between January and June 2026, a 10.62% decrease compared with the same period of 2025.
The same report notes that the province booked a trade surplus of US$29.78 million over the first six months of 2026, reflecting relatively low import levels compared with exports.
According to RRI and ReformaNews, products seen as having international potential include processed food, coffee, candlenuts and derivative products, and traditional textiles, all of which are among the focus areas for capacity-building and market development efforts.
The reports do not provide product-level export figures or state how many of the 50 participating UMKM already have export experience, focusing instead on the bootcamp as part of broader efforts to prepare local businesses for global markets.
