Labuan Bajo — The Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (BPOLBF) staged the fifth Picnic Over the Hill of Parapuar (POTHP) on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at Natas Parapuar in Labuan Bajo, as part of broader efforts to restore tourism confidence after the Flores earthquake, according to BPOLBF and public broadcaster RRI.
The event followed an earlier postponement from 22 August 2026 and was positioned as a way to revive visitor activity and the creative economy in the destination.
BPOLBF described POTHP as an annual signature event to activate the Parapuar area, combining live music, a picnic setting, a food festival and stargazing in an elevated open-air site overlooking Labuan Bajo.
Eastern Indonesian musician Wizz Baker headlined Volume 5, with his appearance promoted as one of the main draws for visitors.
Tourism recovery and local participation
BPOLBF Acting President Director Andhy Marpaung said the programme formed part of tourism recovery and an effort to reassure visitors that Labuan Bajo remained safe to visit in the aftermath of the earthquake, including the Parapuar area.
According to RRI, BPOLBF framed the event within the normalisation and recovery phase of tourism crisis management.
RRI reported that the picnic also served to connect visitors with local businesses, with 17 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) participating.
These included enterprises supported by BPOLBF and other operators renting stalls at the site, with stall rental cited at around Rp150,000.
In its announcement on 8 September 2026, BPOLBF said earlier editions of POTHP had offered sunset viewing, culinary experiences and night-sky observation alongside music and outdoor recreation, and presented Volume 5 as a continuation of that format.
Tickets and attendance
BPOLBF’s ticket information listed regular admission at Rp60,000, a five-ticket package at Rp270,000 and on-the-spot admission at Rp80,000, available via an online booking link.
RRI separately reported a student ticket priced at Rp30,000.
Up to 18:00 WITA on the day of the event, RRI said 187 POTHP tickets had been sold.
The reports did not provide a consolidated figure for final attendance.
Solidarity for earthquake-affected communities
Alongside the tourism promotion, POTHP Vol. 5 incorporated solidarity measures for people affected by the Flores earthquake.
BPOLBF announced a special-edition T-shirt signed by Wizz Baker, to be sold to visitors with proceeds donated to earthquake victims.
RRI reported a further arrangement under which 50 percent of Baker’s performance fee would be donated, with a symbolic handover planned during his performance of the song “Hilang.”
RRI said the donation was to be channelled through the Labuan Bajo Diocese to communities in areas covered by the diocese.
Separate RRI coverage after the concert reported that Wizz Baker contributed Rp20 million from his earnings at POTHP Vol. 5 to support Flores earthquake victims, presented as part of the event’s solidarity actions.
BPOLBF linked these initiatives to broader efforts to show that tourism in Labuan Bajo was resuming and that visitors could participate in recovery by attending events and contributing to assistance for affected communities.
