West Manggarai promotes village attractions alongside Komodo National Park

Labuan Bajo — West Manggarai tourism authorities are promoting village-based attractions alongside Komodo National Park, presenting natural and cultural sites as part of the wider Labuan Bajo destination.

Why it matters: Visitors can consider village and cultural attractions around Labuan Bajo in addition to trips to Komodo National Park.

The Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority identifies village and cultural experiences, including Wae Rebo, as options that can broaden the area’s tourism offer beyond visits to Komodo and Rinca islands. Indonesia’s official tourism portal also presents traditional villages and Manggarai cultural experiences as attractions around Labuan Bajo.

Beyond the national park

Komodo National Park remains the gateway destination for visitors arriving in Labuan Bajo. The national tourism ministry describes Labuan Bajo as a village in Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency, and highlights the area’s position as an eastern Indonesian tourism destination.

The tourism authority’s destination material includes Wae Rebo, a traditional settlement, among the attractions available to visitors. The official Indonesia Travel portal separately lists village visits and Manggarai traditions as experiences in and around Labuan Bajo.

The promotion does not announce a new visitor requirement, operating rule or change to access arrangements at Komodo National Park. It presents village tourism as an additional part of the region’s destination offer.
