Ruteng — The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) had begun building a temporary home for earthquake survivor Antonius Lesing’s family in Satar Ngkeling village, Wae Ri’i district, Manggarai regency, by Friday morning, 2 October 2026.
The temporary home measures 4x6 metres and is being built beside Lesing’s damaged house. Workers had installed the floor and lightweight steel frame, while GRC panels had been fitted for the walls. Roofing remained to be completed.
Construction had been under way for three days when Lesing was visited on Friday morning. Lesing is a resident of Kampung Ting, Tiong Toko hamlet, Satar Ngkeling village.
BNPB is carrying out the construction through an appointed vendor. The temporary dwelling is intended for Lesing’s family after the earthquake damaged their former home.
Why it matters
The project shows how earthquake recovery is progressing in Manggarai, a regency on Flores within the wider travel region. The construction is in Wae Ri’i district and directly serves a household affected by the disaster.
Two temporary homes in Satar Ngkeling village had already been completed by 30 September 2026, as part of a wider allocation of 189 units for affected residents in Manggarai. Five units across the regency had reached 100% completion by that date.
The temporary-home programme is intended to provide interim accommodation for residents whose houses were damaged by the earthquake. No completion date was stated for Lesing’s home beyond the construction update indicating that roofing was still pending on 2 October.
