Komodo International Airport — The Class II Komodo Airport Operating Unit rearranged airport facilities on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, to make better use of the land currently covered by the airport’s certificates, according to Pos Kupang.

Why it matters: Travellers and investors have current facility rearrangements to monitor, while any future expansion land requirement remains pending a master-plan review expected no earlier than 2028.

The airport is adjusting its layout to match operational needs and the land available, the report said. The move does not yet establish how much land will be required for future development.

Airport official Apep said a figure of 39.9 hectares had been discussed, but the final requirement must follow a review of the airport’s master plan. The review is expected to take place no earlier than 2028, according to Pos Kupang.

Future requirement remains under review

The master-plan review is intended to recalculate land needs based on the airport’s future development and operational requirements. Until that process is completed, the airport’s future expansion land requirement remains undecided.

The Transportation Ministry’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation lists Komodo Airport as serving West Manggarai Regency. Its published airport data records a terminal covering 13,366 square metres and an annual capacity of 1.1 million passengers.

Those published facility figures describe the airport’s current infrastructure and do not determine the additional land required for future development.
