Flores — BMKG’s forecast for 13–19 October 2026 says Indonesia will generally remain relatively dry, while local heavy rain, lightning and strong winds remain possible. The forecast identifies Nusa Tenggara Timur as an area at risk of strong winds during 13–15 October 2026.
For 13–15 October, BMKG expects weather across Indonesia to be generally clear to partly cloudy through light rain. It warns that moderate rain may increase in several provinces and that heavy rain, lightning and strong winds may occur locally.
For 16–19 October, BMKG again expects generally clear to partly cloudy conditions through light rain. Nusa Tenggara Timur remains among the areas listed for strong-wind potential during that period.
Why it matters for Flores travel
Flores is in Nusa Tenggara Timur, so the forecast points to a mainly dry pattern with a local wind risk rather than uniformly unsettled weather. Conditions may vary between locations and can change over short periods, particularly where atmospheric factors support local cloud and rain formation.
BMKG says low rainfall is forecast across parts of Nusa Tenggara during the second ten-day period of October 2026. It also says active atmospheric dynamics, relatively warm sea-surface temperatures, and areas where winds slow or converge may support moderate to heavy local rain, accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
The forecast therefore does not indicate that all Flores travel conditions will be disrupted. It does identify a need to monitor local warnings during the 13–15 October period, when Nusa Tenggara Timur appears in BMKG’s strong-wind warning area, and again during 16–19 October, when the province remains listed for strong winds.
