Wae Rebo Flores: what the official visit tariffs cover

Wae Rebo is the clearest officially documented alternative to the marine spots around Labuan Bajo: Indonesia’s tourism authority lists a day-visit tariff of IDR 225,000 per person and an overnight tariff of IDR 325,000 per person. The figures cover different village experiences and are not Komodo National Park entrance fees.

How much does Wae Rebo cost?

According to Indonesia’s official tourism portal, the day-trip tariff is IDR 225,000 per person, including meals and a welcome drink of local coffee or tea, with the page dated August 1, 2025.

The same page lists IDR 325,000 per person for an overnight stay inside an Mbaru Niang. It says that this tariff includes meals, a folding mattress and a blanket; the page separately lists local guide services at IDR 250,000 per person.

Are these fees the same as Komodo National Park charges?

No. Wae Rebo is a traditional village in the highlands of Flores, while Komodo National Park’s official portal identifies activities such as trekking, beach walking, wildlife observation, snorkelling and diving within the park.

The distinction matters because the Wae Rebo figures are village visit and accommodation tariffs, not a substitute for any public charge applying inside Komodo National Park. The official tourism portal does not present the Wae Rebo tariffs as national-park fees.

What does the wider tourism data show?

Tourism demand is visible at provincial level, although the available figure is not a Wae Rebo visitor count. BPS East Nusa Tenggara recorded 25,155 international tourist visits in July 2025, according to its September 1, 2025 release.

BPS said the July 2025 total was 21.43 percent higher than June 2025 and 109.71 percent higher than July 2024. Those percentages describe provincial international arrivals, not visits to Wae Rebo or any particular island spot.

What should readers distinguish when planning an itinerary?

Wae Rebo and Komodo’s islands answer different travel questions: the former has officially published village tariffs for day and overnight visits, while the latter is a protected-area destination whose official portal lists marine, trekking and wildlife activities.

The most useful cost distinction is therefore between a village tariff and a park charge. Treating IDR 225,000 or IDR 325,000 as a general Komodo-area entrance price would misstate what the official source describes.
