BMKG records Flores tsunami run-up of 2,68 metres

Flores — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded tsunami run-up of up to 2,68 metres at Desa Selama during a field survey published on 11 September 2026.

BMKG reported further run-up measurements of 2,42 metres at Tadho Tengah, 2,39 metres at Dusun Tompong and 2,24 metres at Nangadero. Run-up measures the maximum elevation reached by tsunami water above the shoreline.

The agency also recorded maximum inundation distances of 145 metres at Nampar Sepang, 136 metres at Desa Selama and 60 metres at Tadho. Inundation measures how far tsunami water travelled inland from the coast.

Why the Flores measurements matter
