Komodo Island — West Manggarai police said on 20 October 2026 that they were preparing to submit a drug case involving a 33-year-old fisherman to the West Manggarai District Prosecutor’s Office.
Why it matters: The investigation concerns alleged methamphetamine distribution on Komodo Island and a planned case-file submission to the West Manggarai District Prosecutor’s Office.
The suspect, identified by the initials IR, was arrested on 4 October beside his home in Komodo Village, according to police statements reported by Floresa.co and iNews Sumba. Police said they seized 16 clear plastic packets containing suspected methamphetamine with a gross weight of 2.96 grams, along with drug-use equipment, a mobile phone and cash.
Police said the investigation followed information from residents and that the suspect was allegedly involved in distributing methamphetamine on Komodo Island. Laboratory testing at the Bali Regional Forensic Laboratory reportedly confirmed that samples from all 16 packets contained methamphetamine, classified in Indonesia as a Group I narcotic.
Investigators said the suspect claimed he obtained the drugs from a supplier identified by the initials IW, who was based in Sape, Bima district, West Nusa Tenggara. Police allege the drugs were sent by local boat or passenger vessel on the Sape–Komodo route.
Four witnesses had been examined, and investigators were completing the administrative requirements for the first-stage submission of the case file to prosecutors, police said. The investigation was also being expanded to trace the alleged supplier in Sape and Bima.
The suspect was being held at the West Manggarai police detention facility. The allegations remain subject to due process and a final court ruling.
