Larantuka — Survivors of the Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption formally asked the Flores Timur DPRD ethics body to examine Commission I chair Andy Liwun after a hearing on 12 October 2026.

Ekora NTT reported on 16 October 2026 that the request followed allegations that Liwun interrupted residents, limited their speaking time and did not hear all their demands during a discussion on permanent housing for displaced survivors. The survivors were represented by delegates seeking faster delivery of permanent homes.

Adrian Mbaji, coordinator of the Lewotobi survivors, said residents from Boru village who are living in temporary shelters in Konga village considered the hearing incomplete. He said recommendations at the end of the meeting were unclear and asked the ethics body to review the proceedings under its procedures.

The report said Flores Timur DPRD ethics chair Gafar Ismail assured the survivors that the body would communicate internally and summon Liwun after Monday. Gafar said the council remained focused on pressing for faster permanent housing for thousands of residents.

Liwun denied restricting survivors’ opinions. He said he had allowed people to speak according to the invitation list and had limited the hearing’s duration rather than their views. He attributed the time limit partly to food and snack arrangements for participants who had arrived in the morning.

Why it matters to Flores readers

The dispute concerns how displaced residents can present housing concerns to their elected representatives while they remain in temporary accommodation. It also places the DPRD’s ethics mechanism at the centre of the next stage of the complaint.

The same report said the survivors’ concerns extended beyond permanent housing to other problems affecting residents in temporary shelters. It did not report an ethics finding or disciplinary decision.

The next stated step is for the Flores Timur DPRD ethics body to communicate internally and bring Andy Liwun before it after Monday.
