Kupang — Aftershocks from the magnitude-7.7 Flores earthquake were still occurring on Sunday, 27 September 2026, with 18,486 recorded by 06.00 WITA (UTC+8), according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Of the recorded aftershocks, 205 were felt by residents, while most of the activity occurred in the sea north of Flores. The latest count covered seismic activity recorded through 06.00 WITA on Sunday, and BMKG was continuing to monitor the Flores area.
The largest aftershock was magnitude 6.2, while the smallest was magnitude 0.9. Thirty-nine aftershocks had magnitudes above 5.0. These figures describe the continuing sequence following the main earthquake and do not represent a new principal earthquake.
