Weather outlook turns cooler and wetter over Manggarai and western Flores

Manggarai — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency forecast mostly fair to partly cloudy weather across East Nusa Tenggara on Monday, with light rain expected in several inland and highland districts, including Ende, Manggarai and Manggarai Barat.

BMKG’s provincial forecast for East Nusa Tenggara listed a mix of sunny, partly cloudy and cloudy conditions across the region, while local reports citing the agency said light rain was beginning to return in parts of western Flores and Ende.

In Manggarai, temperatures were forecast at about 15-25 degrees Celsius, with relatively high humidity. The same forecast placed Manggarai Barat and Ende among districts where light rain could appear alongside generally stable weather.

For travellers, the pattern points to a cooler feel in the highlands compared with the coast. The forecast does not indicate severe weather, but overland transfers and trekking in Flores may be less comfortable in the wettest pockets.

BMKG’s broader outlook for the province also showed stronger contrasts between coastal and inland areas, with generally brighter conditions near some lowland districts and more cloud and moisture building over parts of the island interior.

For visitors heading to Labuan Bajo and the Komodo access corridor, the main implication is that short rain showers may affect schedules in higher terrain even as many coastal areas stay mostly fair.
