Kupang — Universitas Nusa Cendana expanded its health-support teams for Flores earthquake assistance on October 2, 2026, and reported that its fifth team had been sent to affected communities. The university said the response included mental-health support for children and women.
Undana Rector Prof Jefri Bale said the university had sent more than five teams since the earthquake response began. He said the fifth team was deployed as part of the continuing assistance effort.
The university said its posts were operating in Ruteng and East Manggarai. It also reported that 30 people involved in the fifth team were already at the location.
Undana said the fifth team was focused on recording damage to public facilities, including irrigation and other infrastructure. Separately, another university team was assigned to mental-health assistance directed at children and women.
Why it matters to Flores communities
The expanded response matters because earthquake recovery involves both physical damage and mental-health needs. Undana said it was preparing a student community-service team focused on mental-health support for vulnerable groups.
The university said its psychology team would provide mental-health assistance. The reported work forms part of the broader emergency and recovery response in Flores.
Undana also said the fifth team had already reached the affected area.
