PLN Opens Kampung Ujung EV Charger in Labuan Bajo
PLN said the Kampung Ujung station uses 50-kW DC and 22-kW AC charging, with self-service access through its apps. The company has also previously said Labuan Bajo already had an SPKLU at the same site.

Labuan Bajo — PT PLN (Persero) opened what it described as Labuan Bajo’s first public electric-vehicle charging station, a self-service SPKLU at Kampung Ujung tourist parking area with 50-kW DC fast charging and 22-kW AC charging, according to PLN and local reporting.
The utility said the station can be used by drivers on their own, with charging monitored through PLN’s Charge.IN and PLN Mobile apps. PLN also said a full charge from empty to full can take up to two hours, depending on the vehicle’s battery capacity.
A PLN press release from December 2021 said the company had already operated the first SPKLU in Labuan Bajo at the Kampung Ujung parking area, and that the facility used the same 50-kW DC fast-charging and 22-kW AC setup. Local media later repeated that Labuan Bajo had already had a Kampung Ujung SPKLU in place before the 2026 reporting.
Capacity and use
PLN has framed the charger as part of a wider effort to support electric mobility in one of Indonesia’s key tourism destinations. The company said the installation is meant to help build an EV ecosystem in East Nusa Tenggara and encourage the use of battery-electric vehicles by visitors and operators.
The station’s self-service design is backed by PLN’s Charge.IN platform, which the energy ministry described as the charging application used to control and monitor EV charging at SPKLU sites. PLN’s own materials also say the app was launched to make public charging easier for users.
PLN and media reports cited the 50-kW DC and 22-kW AC specifications, but the sources reviewed did not provide a published customer tariff for this Labuan Bajo station. PLN has separately published lists showing Kampung Ujung in Labuan Bajo as an operational fast-charging location.
Broader rollout
In its tourism and EV rollout, PLN has previously said it also planned or prepared charging facilities for other destinations, including Kupang, Ende, Maumere and Waingapu. In Labuan Bajo, the Kampung Ujung charger is the facility most clearly identified in the sources as serving the town’s visitor parking area.
For travellers and local businesses, the charger adds a public option in a destination where electric mobility is still developing. The sources reviewed do not identify any specific rental-car company, taxi operator or tourism fleet that has formally committed to use the station.
