Ruteng — A magnitude-4.5 aftershock struck offshore north of Ruteng in Manggarai, Flores, at 04:36:35 WIB on Wednesday, 23 September 2026. The earthquake was 2 kilometres deep and was felt in Manggarai.
The epicentre was 51 kilometres north of Ruteng, at coordinates 8.16° south latitude and 120.38° east longitude. The offshore location, depth and felt intensity were reported as II–III on the Modified Mercalli Intensity scale in Manggarai.
BMKG said the earthquake had no tsunami potential. Residents were advised to remain calm, stay alert for possible aftershocks and avoid cracked or damaged buildings.
